Sharlene Escobar, AMFT
Associate Marriage and Family Therapist
Hello, my name is Sharlene Escobar and I am an associate Marriage and Family Therapist at Lightway. I provide therapy for individuals, couples, children, and teens throughout Orange County. I am passionate about supporting those who feel stuck, weighed down by stress, or burdened by worry. I especially enjoy working with adolescents and young adults as they navigate identity, relationships, and life transitions. I believe gentleness and curiosity are essential for creating a safe space to grow and heal in therapy.
I specialize in working with complex trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, grief, and relational conflict. My approach is rooted in attachment theory and parts work, helping clients explore both their inner world and relationships with others. In therapy, I pay attention to how the body holds emotions and pain, and I work with clients to put words to their experiences while moving toward healing and wholeness. I am trained in EMDR, a therapy method that supports clients in reprocessing trauma and relational wounds.
I also integrate interventions from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and emotion focused therapy (EFT) to provide practical tools for navigating distressing thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I have worked with children, teens, and adults in community counseling and university counseling settings, and I have also served teens and young adults as a leader in a Christian church context.
I work out of my office in Yorba Linda, CA and see people from all over Orange County. I also provide telehealth services for those seeking online video therapy in California.
Outside of therapy, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, studying the Bible, reading, playing games, and going line dancing or to live music events. I work under the clinical supervision of Dr. Brianna Bleeker (PSY32517).
